Temperatures set to plunge this weekend

After the big storm comes the big freeze.

Temperatures are set to fall as low as -3C by tomorrow, as a wintry spell will hit the country this weekend.

Heavy rain is expected overnight, and colder conditions will reach the northern half of the country,  where the rain will turn wintry in parts of Ulster and Connacht.

Tonight will be a bitterly cold and windy night, with temperatures falling to between -3/0C.

Tomorrow Friday will be equally chilly, with daytime temperatures hovering between 3 and 6C, and predominantly blustery conditions.
