At least 10 people have been injured after Mount Etna erupted earlier today, causing a 4.8 magnitude quake.
The seismic activity prompted a number of people to flee their homes. It is understood that some properties in rural areas near the volcano have been severely damaged.
Mount Etna in Sicily is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
