Term ‘shark attack’ to be changed to ‘negative encounter’ in order to improve the animals image

Scientists in Australia have decided to do away with term shark attack in order to improve the animals image.

According to The Sydney Morning Hearld, scientists in New South Wales and Queensland have decided to ditch the term shark attack as it portrays a negative image which suggests that sharks are man eating monster’s.

The change in terminology which will now see the phrases negative encounters or shark incidents being used comes as scientists say the original term was leading to people being scared of attending public beaches.

Scientists say the changes will now lead to the public being better informed of sharks and how they behave.
