According to reports, Gardai have detained a current employee on suspicion of using bananas to harass another officer. According to information obtained by The Mirror, the male cop was taken into custody in the west of Ireland as a result of an ongoing inquiry, reports The Mirror.
We know that the Garda was detained, interrogated for a few hours, and then released without being charged with harassment. Despite not being prosecuted, sources have verified that investigators will submit a dossier on their investigation to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who will determine whether the officer would be subject to any criminal penalties.
The arrest, which took place in recent weeks, is the result of a more than one-year-long Garda investigation, reports The Mirror.
We confirmed that the cop was detained after reporting in October of last year that an investigation was under progress.
According to sources, the officer could be subject to internal Garda disciplinary actions, but it is unlikely that the DPP will order any prosecution.

The officer is accused of torturing a female Garda with bananas after discovering that she had a banana phobia, according to The Mirror. He is accused of using bananas as part of a persistent harassment and stalking campaign directed at the female officer, reports The Mirror.
An accusation of criminal damage against the Garda, who has not been suspended, is also being investigated by the criminal inquiry. That has to do with an alleged incident when he allegedly broke into the locker of a female officer at a Garda station in the west of Ireland as part of his harassment campaign against her.
We have confirmed that the female officer was the target of a harassment campaign that allegedly lasted longer than two years. Although it is known that the two were acquainted, it is alleged that the suspect harassed the female officer for a long time after she refused to establish a relationship with him, reports The Mirror.
He allegedly started harassing the woman by sending her a tonne of texts and making disparaging remarks about her in front of coworkers. According to sources, when he learnt about her banana fear, the alleged harassment intensified.
He allegedly frequently put bananas in places within the station as well as in Garda cars he knew the female officer would be using.
A higher-ranking officer once invited the Garda into an office to talk to him about his alleged conduct, but it’s said he was wearing a banana the entire time, reports The Mirror.
