Ireland is soon to be besieged by an army of flying ants.
A 50 mile-wide swarm of flying ants was recently spotted moving towards the UK, and will soon reach Irish coasts.
Ants tend to perform their nuptial flights during warm and humid summer days. Queens mate with males during the flight and then land to begin a new colony.
Flying ants are harmless to humans.
