The big chill is on its way, with deep cold and the possibility of snow over high ground over the next few days.
The national forecaster predicts a marked dip in temperatures, with lows of below zero from Wednesday onwards.
Today, Tuesday, is expected to be a rather mild and wet day, with highs of 14 and even 15C possible in places.
Things will take a turn for the worse on Wednesday morning, as daytime temperatures sink back to just 4-5C.
Thursday will see the thermometer plunging even further, with lows of -2C after dark.
