The first snowfall of the year is expected to coat parts of the country as Met Eireann warns of the effects from Storm Eunice

It’s now looking increasingly likely that Ireland will see its first snowfall in 2022 this week as the national weather forecaster predicts blizzards and snowfalls will crisscross the country from Thursday evening.

Met Eireann warned Storm Eunice could be a troublesome and dangerous event with potential blizzards on the way.

The storm is about to bring blizzards, torrential rains and damaging winds, and people are urged to plan accordingly.

Forecasters issued a weather advisory ahead of Thursday night’s storm, noting it could create numerous hazards for motorists and homeowners.

The weather alert is in effect until at least 3pm on Friday. Met Eireann say people need to be extra careful on the roads as the storms pass throughout the country.
