Whether people get paid or not for taking in Ukrainians into their homes will be determined this week in the Dail.
The idea will be debated about whether people should get paid €100 per week to help them out with offsetting costs of taking them in.
It’s understood that the Taoiseach Micheal Martin is fully behind families being paid to take Ukrainians into their homes to help offset the costs to house them.
The Government has backed a proposal to pay €400 a month to families hosting Ukrainian refugees.
The motion will be discussed next Tuesday.
Ireland has taken in 29,000 Ukrainian refugees so far. They have been put up in private homes, warehouses, large sheds, hotels, and just about any other housing space available.
Hotel chains however will likely need the rooms for summer, so it’s unclear where the refugees will be housed then.
