
An additional €100 million aid package for Ukraine has been approved by the Cabinet, reports RTE.
Tánaiste Simon Harris stated that “non-lethal military equipment and support” will be the purpose of the financing.
The Taoiseach stated that there is “no doubt” that the US President’s decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine is “a very, very serious development” as the Cabinet convened this morning to consider measures to assist the nation, reports RTE.

“Continued engagement between everybody” is what Micheál Martin called “a serious setback.”
The Tánaiste expressed the same opinion, stating that European allies have been putting in a tremendous amount of effort lately to demonstrate not just solidarity but also useful assistance for Ukraine, reports RTE.
However, the European Union and the United States must continue to collaborate on this matter, he stressed.
Additionally, the government has approved draft legislation to remove the requirement for UN permission before sending Irish peacekeeping forces overseas, reports RTE.
The government is “using” the Ukrainian situation to send Irish Defence Forces on EU military operations, according to Aontú Leader Peadar Tóibín, who slammed the decision.
The suggested modifications to the Triple Lock system, according to the Taoiseach, would “in no way undermine” Ireland’s military neutrality, reports RTE.
