The Greens in Government are taking hypocrisy to new heights, while urging the rest of us to reduce our carbon footprint, they refuse to stay grounded – Rural TDs

Green Party Ministers’ Eco-Hypocrisy Laid Bare as They Jet Off on 90,000 km Flights Despite Anti-Car, Anti-Flying, Anti-Rural Ireland Stance: Rural TDs Slam Their Out-of-Touch Attitude and Punitive Policies Against rural communities and the Poor.

Deputy Mattie Mc Grath, the leader of the Rural Independent Group of TDs from Tipperary, has criticized the Green Party Ministers for their hypocrisy, stating:

“The Green Party’s hypocrisy has been laid bare yet again. While they preach about the importance of reducing carbon emissions, the actions of Green Party ministers directly contradict their environmental messaging.”

“The Irish people have been bombarded with lectures from the Green Party, Fianna Fail, and Fine Gael about cutting their carbon footprint. They’ve been told to carpool, take shorter showers, reduce or cut out flying, buy electric cars, reduce cattle numbers, and adopt eco-friendly practices. However, the very same Green Party ministers who are giving these lectures are continuing to fly all over the world, leaving a colossal carbon footprint that far exceeds that of ordinary citizens.”

“It is a fact that the ministers are making plans to travel to distant places to attend St. Patrick’s Day events next month. We have no objection to this, as it offers a unique opportunity to promote Ireland globally. However, the hypocrisy of the Green Ministers is the concern here. The seven Green Party ministers will collectively travel more than 90,000 km, with Minister Eamon Ryan alone covering a staggering 26,000 km by taking flights to destinations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai. The public will bear the cost of these flights, while the Green Party conveniently overlooks the environmental impact of such travel.”

“To put the 90,000km travelled by the Green Party ministers into perspective, it’s like flying around the globe more than twice or flying from Dublin to Berlin 70 times. This is a staggering amount of travel that has a significant impact on the environment, and it highlights the hypocrisy of the Green Party’s messaging.”

“It’s time to call out this government’s eco-hypocrisy, which is both astounding and painful. The Green Party ministers are nothing but occasional environmentalists who prioritize their own political interests over the environment. Their actions show that they are not concerned about the impact of their carbon footprint, and they are inflicting pain and suffering on every rural community across the country.”

“Irish citizens deserve better from their elected officials. It’s time to take a stand against this hypocrisy and demand that the Green Party practices what they preach. If they continue to ignore the impact of their carbon footprint and lecture us on reducing ours, they must be held accountable for their hypocritical behaviour. The Green Party should lead by example, taking meaningful actions towards reducing their own carbon footprint before lecturing the rest of us to do so,” concluded Deputy Mc Grath.
