This is one for the books for sure.
Irish Water and water charges have been a shambolic mess from the start, never failing to bemuse and induce despair at the same time.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has now been forced to defend those who naively paid their bills out of Government coercion and scaremongering, saying that they are not being ‘made fools of.’
The comments were made after several days of ‘now we will refund you/now we won’t’ type of ruminations coming from different sides of the Government.
There have been calls to issue the extra tax uptake to issue refunds for those who paid their water charges, but Enda Kenny has decidedly kicked the can down the road and said he won’t be making any decision until March at least.
