People are getting “sick, weary and tired” of former President Mary McAleese who has launched a series of harsh tirades against the Catholic Church in the past several weeks says Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath.
The veteran TD made the comments on Newstalk’s Pat Kenny show on Thursday and also suggested the former President has “some issues” in relation to her controversial comments on the Church.
McAleese has railed against the Church’s millennia old teachings on marriage and sexuality and described the upcoming World Meeting of Families in Ireland which will be attended by the Pope as a “right-wing rally”, the Irish Examiner reported.
McAleese was uninvited from speaking in the Vatican in March allegedly because of her vocal advocacy of gay marriage and abortion.
