Excitement over this year’s Oscar ceremony is at a fever pitch this evening as the big event draws near.
According to the Irish Mirror, Ireland has a record 14 nominations in the categories this year and there are high hopes that some of the gold statuettes will be winging their way across the Atlantic.
Some of those nominated include Colin Farrell and Paul Mescal who are both nominated for Best Actor. Martin McDonagh, who directed the hit film “The Banshees of Inisherin” is up for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay while “An Cailin Ciuin” is nominated in the Best International Feature Film – a historic moment as it is the first ever Irish language movie to get a nomination.
The Oscars ceremony can be watched on Sky Cinema/Sky Showcase and on NOW TV from 1am this evening.
