The Minister for Social ‘Protection’, Regina Doherty, claims to be just “hopeful” that the Christmas bonus will be paid out this year.
The bonus, which has been paid for the last four years, is worth up to 85% of the weekly payment.
If the government does scrap it, it’ll be a move that will hit those on lower incomes hard, but nevertheless.
According to the Irish Mirror newspaper, the Minister confirmed there is no ‘provision’ for the bonus this year.
Public uproar has already started on social media on the prospect of such a disgusting move.
