The summer of discontent: Commuters face untold disruption after Bus Éireann confirms than an all-out strike is going ahead

First in a fresh batch of strike actions, Bus Éireann workers have confirmed that an all-out strike is now ‘inevitable’, after management unilaterally pushed ahead with the implementation of ‘cost-saving’ measures aimed at alleviating the company’s dire financial status.

Notably, the management strata at Bus Éireann have declared themselves exempt from any cuts, instead directing their patronizing greed towards the lowest echelons at the company.

A statement released by the company said “These measures are vital to ensure that the company remains solvent, and can continue to trade as a going concern.

“The company must deal with its challenges directly, and the board have a duty to ensure Bus Éireann is financially sustainable and therefore must take the necessary steps to secure this.

“Further dialogue aimed at urgently resolving these challenges would be welcome.”

And through it all, Minister for Transport Shane Ross once again refused to engage or intervene in the dispute, busying himself instead with other issues while drawing down his monthly wages without a second thought.

Bus Eireann vehicles will fall silent on March 6th.
