The Minister of Health in the UK has promised that all adults will be “offered” a vaccine against the coronavirus by the start of Autumn. Matt Hancock said anyone over the age of 18 will be “offered” but didn’t say that they’ll be given a Covid-19 vaccine before this deadline.
Hancock told BBC presenter Andrew Marr that uptake of the vaccine was “accelerating” and that around 2 million people had received an injection at this point.
When asked if the government could “vaccinate everyone” by the fall, he said yes. However, Hancock continued, ‘every adult will be offered a vaccine by the autumn, absolutely’. In a context of growing uncertainty, the government’s ambitious goal of vaccinating nearly 14 million vulnerable people will be reached by mid-February.
