‘There should be limits’ – Artist behind ‘portal’ appeals for people to behave after portal temporarily closed

The creator of the portal art work that links New York and Dublin has urged viewers to keep in mind that kids could be looking on from the other side, reports RTE.

The live feed was suspended last night at 10 p.m. Dublin time due to a number of occurrences involving “inappropriate behaviour”.

Social media users have posted a lot of videos of various occurrences, such as insulting gestures, nudity, and the showing of pornography on cell phones along with a picture of the Twin Towers in New York on 9/11, reports RTE.

Artist Benediktas Gylys stated in a speech in New York that there ought to be certain restrictions.

“Definitely it’s about us humans creating the artwork together, but we need to make sure that it’s also family friendly. I think everyone should think of a seven-year-old child that is in New York that wants to experience and that wants to connect to Dublin and wave to people there. So that was my only request for the lovely people of Ireland,” he said, reports RTE.
