A woman from Kentucky, USA, had to have emergency surgery on her wrist after the hair bobbin she was wearing on it gave her a serious infection.
Audree Kopp noticed a raised red lump on her wrist that was sore and visibly inflamed. The lump began to grow in size, and shesought help from a doctor. She was prescribed antibiotics but they didn’t work so she ended up in the Accident and Emergency department where she needed to be operated on.
According to doctor’s, bacteria from Audree’s glittery hair bobble got under her skin through her pores and hair follicles causing three types of infection- strep, staph and poly negative.
The lump had to be sliced off by doctor and Audree posted a photo of it on her Facebook to warn people of the dangers of hair bobbins.

Doctors have advised people to be aware of the dangers that wearing non-smooth, dirty or glittery bobbins on their wrists due to the risk of infection.
