Thousands of people issued with boil water notice in Cork

Upwards of 9,000 people in the Cork area have been issued with a boil water notice, due to turbidity issues.

The affected areas are Whitegate, Aghada, Rostellan, Saleen, Cloyne, Ballycotton, Churchtown, Shanagarry, and Ballinacurra.

It is understood that these areas, which are supplied by the Dower plant, were issued with a similar notice back in 2016.

Today’s notice specifies that residents should boil the water for drinking, food preparation, teeth brushing, and ice making.

Irish Water will release an update in due course.
