Three lump sum cost-of-living payments for social welfare recipients are due this week

This week, hundreds of thousands of households will receive payments worth €230 million to help with their cost-of-living expenses, reports RTE.

These supports were announced in the Budget and will be paid over the next few days to those in fuel poverty, low-income families, and people with disabilities.

Between November and January, nine different lump sum payments will be made to various recipients, reports RTE.

409,000 households will receive a €300 fuel allowance payment, 214,000 people with disabilities will receive a €400 disability support grant, and 45,000 working families will receive the €400 Working Family Payment.

Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys has announced the details of the payments, reports RTE.

The funds will be paid to people in addition to and on the same day that they usually receive their primary payment.

On the week starting Monday 4th December, the Christmas bonus will be paid out, and all families with children will receive the double payment of Child Benefit to support them.
