Gardai have charged three men, aged in their 20s, 30s and 50s in connection to a horrific assault on an elderly man in County Sligo.

According to RTE, the investigation is ongoing after the condition of 73-yr-old Tom Niland deteriorated, leaving him on life support.

The attack, which took place on January 18th, involved three raiders who knocked on Mr. Niland’s door.  He had been watching television but got up to answer the door.  The three thugs pushed their way in before assaulting him on the head and upper body and leaving with some cash.
