Three men have been taken into custody over the attempted murder of a woman who was set on fire at her home in Dublin last November, reports RTE.
Alexis Lee Campion, 44, sustained serious injuries and life-altering burns to her face and body during the incident in Clondalkin on 25 November, reports RTE.
She is still receiving treatment in hospital for her injuries.
As part of an operation focused on organised crime groups, drug trafficking, and intimidation linked to drug debts in south and west Dublin, gardaà also conducted a number of searches, reports RTE.
More than 100 gardaÃ, including local, national, and specialist units, carried out coordinated raids on 19 houses and properties in Clondalkin and Ballyfermot earlier today.
According to gardaÃ, the investigation centres on the brutal attack on the 44-year-old mother at her residence in Oak Downs, Clondalkin, reports RTE.
Ms Lee Campion responded to a knock on her door at approximately 10.10am that morning when an accelerant, believed to be petrol, was thrown over her and ignited.
Her family stated that she suffered severe burns covering 35% of her body in what they described as a violent act that caused devastating and lasting harm, reports RTE.
They added that she has undergone several surgeries, endured multiple amputations, and continues to remain in hospital.
Investigators believe she was singled out by an organised crime gang engaged in drug dealing, intimidation over drug debts, and violent criminal activity in the area, reports RTE.
Three men — two aged in their 30s and one adult teenager — were arrested today on suspicion of the woman’s attempted murder.
They are currently being held under anti-gang legislation at different garda stations across Dublin, where they can be questioned for up to a week, reports RTE.
The large-scale policing operation, which is assisting the investigation into the attack, is being carried out under Operation Fógra, an initiative established to combat organised crime gangs, drug-related intimidation, and drug dealing, reports RTE.
