Thug jailed for using hurley in assault after he stole the victim’s mobile phone

A court has heard that a guy struck another man whose phone he had just stolen using a child’s hurley, reports Breaking News.

On June 27, 2018, Michael Quinn, 23, of Cara Close, Priorswood, Coolock, Dublin 5, entered a guilty plea to three charges of assault at Ennafort Roard, Raheny, as well as assault causing hurt and production of a hurley.

Additionally, he entered a guilty plea for taking a Google Pixel phone at Harmonstown Dart Station.

Quinn has been convicted of 20 crimes in the past, including larceny, narcotics possession, burglary, and moving violations, reports Breaking News.

Three and a half years was the punishment handed down by Judge Martin Nolan; the last year was suspended under stringent guidelines.

The wounded person was waiting at Harmonstown Dart Station at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, when Quinn requested if he may use his phone to make a call, according to testimony given to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Quinn was given the victim’s phone, but he refused to give it back. After a fight, Quinn and the victim both turned to leave, reports Breaking News.

“Don’t talk to me like that,” Quinn warned the man as he turned around.

Quinn was recognised by CCTV, and his residence was searched with a warrant issued even though no valuable evidence was found, reports Breaking News.
