THG’s boss Kevin Mallon, who was due to be released from prison this evening, will now have to remain behind bars a little longer as authorities are short of ankle tags.

One of the conditions for the man’s release is that he wears an electronic tracking tag. However, it is understood that the supply of such devices is a bit on the short side. It is not known when tags will be available.

Mr. Fallon’s solicitor has released a statement saying “In the decision given by the Minister Ribeiro Dantas, from the 5th Group of the Superior Court of Justice, it approved the injunction of the habeas corpus of Kevin Mallon, arrested in August 5th and who will have now the right to respond to the accusations in freedom.

“However, his freedom is being delayed because the lack of electronic tags in the State of Rio de Janeiro. We are, at this moment, seeking for a decision to him to be freed immediately.”
