Time to close Irish Borders? Donnelly tells RTE 1500 Brazilians have arrived in Ireland in last two weeks

As reported on RTE Radio 1 today, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly (FF) issued a health warning to the 1500 Brazilians who arrived into Ireland in the last two weeks.
Stephen Donnelly was explaining that a new, more infectious mutation of the Coronavirus strain commonly known as the Brazilian variant had been imported into Ireland.

During the RTE programme Minister Donnelly sent the following urgent health guidance to the approximately 1500 Brazilians who have arrived into Ireland in the 14 days “they are requested to immediately contact a local GP and get a PCR test and restrict their movements for 14 days”.

As of today, the WHO official Coronavirus tracker shows Brazil with 8.4 million total cases and an extraordinary 208,246 deaths attributed to the virus.

The US based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have an active LEVEL 4 (highest risk) travel advisory for Brazil. “Travellers should avoid all travel to Brazil. Before traveling back to the United States, get tested with a viral test 1–3 days before travel.

Whilst the US CDC strongly recommends a viral test 1-3 days before travel, Minister of Health, Stephen Donnelly on RTE outlined “the regime is a good regime so you essentially have two PCR tests between 5 and 8 days apart and then in a lot of cases on top of that even when they are both clear you have to restrict your movements”.
The Minister does not outline if these PCR tests should take place before or after arriving into Ireland.
