Time to name and shame – Over 68% of Irish motorists would like to see those found guilty of drink driving offences named and placed on a live register

According to a new survey conducted by the AA, it is believed that 68% of Irish motorists would like to see those found guilty of drink driving offences named and shamed and placed on a live register.

The AA Membership and Motor Insurance survey which involved 11,000 people found that the average motorist would like to see a change on how those found guilty should be punished and believe naming and shaming would be a wise step.

However the survey also found that 48% of drivers said such a move wouldn’t affect their driving own behaviour, although 19% said the risk of being ‘named and shamed’ would actually make them think twice about their driving behaviour.
