Time to wrap up warm: Forecasters say temperatures’ will drop to -4C this coming weekend

After months of relatively mild weather the country experienced it’s first cold snap on Thursday with bitterly cold temperatures and snowfall in most places, well now it seems it is about to get worse as temperatures are expected to plummet this coming weekend.

According to the national forecaster Met Eireann everyone should wrap up warm this weekend as temperatures are expected to be as low as -4C in many places.

Although there might not be much more snowfall in the coming days, it will remain extremely cold during the day with chilling winds sweeping across the country beginning today with temperatures’ expected to remain in the low single digits.

Met Eireann also say there will be a significant chill factor that will make it bitterly cold during the early morning and afternoon, whilst severe ground frost is expected in most places over night.

There may even be some snowfall in the north and northwest especially on higher ground. Meanwhile both the RSA and the Gardaí have warned motorists to be extra vigilant on the nations roads over the weekend as conditions are expected to be difficult.
