Tipperary Council house earmarked for travellers gets badly smashed and damaged preventing them from moving in




A house bought by Tipperary County Council has been smashed a battered into pieces after it emerged that travellers were to move into the premises shortly.

Hundreds of thousands of Euros had been spent on the Clonmel located house renovating it along with the purchase price for the family of travellers.

They were due to nove into their new home but can no longer do so after a significant amount of damage was carried out. When the builders had finished doing the property up and handed the keys back to the council, the house was smashed to pieces preventing anyone from moving in.

Locals told The Liberal windows have been smashed, partition walls knocked through and even door frames pulled out.

It’s understood that locals and members of the council had discussed the travellers moving into the area and that there were some objections to this but at present gardai have made no arrest and the case remains open.
