Gardai are said to be investigating a so called “tissue scam” that has started recently on both Dublin DART lines and train lines.
A reader of The Liberal contacted us to inform us that these scams are now becoming more and more persistent with some dart users contacting gardai over the incidents.
The scam involves someone leaving a box or packet of tissues on train carriage seats with a note attached with their price tag.
Anyone who moves the tissues “has to buy them” as very intimidating behaviour is pushed by unsavory characters until the passengers pay up.
A member of the gardai told The Liberal that these scams are persistently occurring with members of the Roma community, not always, but that they have received reports of many ROMA gypsies carrying out this scam.
