Former medical director Tony Holohan has found a new job as a doctor after his previous job collapsed due to scandal.
Dr. Holohan, who came to prominence during the Covid-19 pandemic, will become a public health medicine consultant with a much higher salary.
He will particularly focus on cancer prevention and treatment, although his role in the CervicalCheck scandal is controversial.
The salary for this new position is 257,000 euros, significantly higher than what he received as medical director (CMO), reports the Independent.
Dr. Holohan was previously the subject of a scandal over a failed plan to appoint him to an academic position. He now appears to have been the shortlisted candidate in an open competition for a new position as consultant in public health medicine within the HSE’s National Cancer Control Program (NCCP).
