“Too little, too late,” flood victims tell Enda Kenny as storms leave carnage behind

Where is Enda Kenny? It’s the question that’s been on everyone’s lips as flood victims face into 2016 at the mercy of the elements.

Instead of re-calling the Cabinet to address the crisis, the Taoiseach has engineered the odd photo call in an attempt to persuade voters that he has their interests at heart but these hotch-potch appearances have done little to reassure those devastated  by their losses.

“It’s too little, too late,” said Barry Reilly. “People are desperate, they’re asking where the Taoiseach is, why wasn’t there a plan in place to dredge the rivers which would have avoided this misery in the first place.”

“There’s not a word in our area from the man who calls himself our leader,” said Patsy Ryan. “We won’t forget this come the election.”

In a fiasco that perfectly sums up this Government’s lack of reaction to the floods, Tanaiste Joan Burton was forced to abandon attempts to view flood waters. Instead she was shown floundering when her gondola-shaped boat capsized, leaving her scrambling to safety.
