Public access to a roadway in Dublin’s city core has been restricted, reports Breaking News.

Dublin City Council claims that drug use, unlawful dumping, and unmanageable antisocial conduct have all occurred at Harbour Court, which is across from the Abbey Theatre.

There is access to the quays via the pedestrian laneway, reports Breaking News.

According to Dublin City councillor Nial Ring, the area was very hard to police, thus the decision to close it had to be made.

Mr Ring told Newstalk: “It’s half the length of O’Connell Street and gardaí haven’t got the resources to patrol O’Connell Street so what chance is there that they could in any way patrol a lane? Unfortunately, it’s one of these streets where there are three ways in, three ways out. You can go in, do your drug deal, hop on the Luas, do your drug deal, run into the board walk and disappear there,” reports Breaking News.
