Tragic: 5 people killed on Irish roads over a 36-hour period

There has been carnage on our roads over the festive period, with five people killed across the country over a 36-hour period.

Jackson Turner, aged 7, lost his life last night after being involved in a three-vehicle collision in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

Elsewhere, a young woman died in a crash on St. Stephen’s day, after the car she was driving hit a wall at Camblin, New Ross, Co Wexford. She was named locally as 26-years-old Judy Waters. It is understood she was the mother of two young twins.

Separately, an 18-year-old man died in a three-car collision in Cavan yesterday morning. He was killed when his car collided with a truck and a third vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the capital, 16-year-old Warren Kenny was killed on Christmas morning following a crash in his scrambler bike. It is understood he collided with a similar vehicle.

And elsewwhere, a young man believed to be in his 20s died on Christmas night when he was hit by a car on the outskirts of Castledermot, Co Kildare.
