There has been number of tributes been paid to a 7-year-old boy who tragically died after being struck by a car in Co Fermanagh yesterday afternoon.
The young boy, named Ryan McGovern, sadly passed away after he was struck by a car at approximately 1pm on the Lattone Road in Belcoo. Little Ryan was quickly rushed to South West Acute Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
A leading Sinn Fein Councillor, Anthony Feely, was the first to pay tribute to young Ryan, saying: “I know the family very well. They’re in my thoughts tonight. He’s so young, and it’s a real tragedy. The surrounding areas are in deep sorrow.” “It’s just terrible, especially so close to Christmas. There is just widespread shock – people are very sorry for what has happened coming up to Christmas. My thoughts are with his mother and father and his two brothers.”
Meanwhile SDLP Councillor John Coyle added: “It’s not nice at any time of year but it’s just more heartbreaking at this time of year when young children are looking forward to Santa coming. It’s just completely shocking.”
The PSNI have also said an investigation into the tragic incident is still ongoing.
