There was some sad news announced late last night as Gardaí have confirmed that a man, who was injured in a workplace accident at an industrial estate in Youghal, Co Cork yesterday, has sadly died in hospital.

The young man has been named as Donal Scanlan aged 21. Gardaí believe that Mr Scanlan tragically lost his life when an explosion occurred whilst he was welding at B&C Services, a metal fabricators located at Marlhill Court in Youghal. Mr Scanlan was quickly rushed to Cork University Hospital by the Coast Guard helicopter, where he sadly died a short time later.
Gardaí along with the Health and Safety Authority are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
