A fisherman has sadly passed away following an incident in Galway Bay this afternoon.
According to RTE News, the man sadly passed away after getting into difficulties near Salthill.
It is understood that the man was taken from the waters between Blackrock and Silverstrand at approximately 1pm by members from the Galway RNLI.
However sadly the man was pronounced dead at University Hospital Galway a short time later.
It is understood that the Health And Safety Authority have been notified about the incident.
