Gardai in Cork have sadly confirmed that a 13 year old boy has been killed after being struck by a truck this afternoon.
It is understood that the teenager was seriously injured after being hit by the truck on Sheares Street at approximately 3:30pm.
Gardai say the boy was rushed to Our Lady Mercy Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
They added that the driver of the truck was uninjured in the incident and an investigation is currently ongoing.
