Police in the North have confirmed that a man aged in his 50s has sadly passed away after collapsed whilst running in the Belfast City Marathon.
According to BBC News the man who passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital, collapsed within five miles after the race began.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics who rushed to the scene at Victoria Park, the man was sadly pronounced dead in hospital.
Officers investigating the incident say they are currently waiting on a post-mortem examination in order to determine the cause of the man’s death.
