A man in his 30s was killed last night when he was knocked over by a gardai patrol car.
The accident happened at 1:20am just outside Bellurgan on the Carlingford to Dundalk Rd, Co. Louth.
No further details are available other than the garda car was on patrol of the area at the time.
The Garda ombudsman has started a detailed investigation as to what happened.
The road is closed for forensic examination.
