Tragic: Monaghan man left in a coma following an alleged assault in Carrickmacross – sadly passes away in hospital

There was some sad news announced over the past few hours as Gardaí confirmed that a 36-year-old Co Monaghan man sadly passed away in hospital.

The man Séamus Bell from Foxfield, Carrickmacross Co Monaghan, sadly died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Mr Bell was left in a coma after an alleged assault in January this year.

Mr Bell had been receiving treatment in hospital since the alleged assault occurred on Main Street, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan on the 20th of January this year.

A man aged in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is currently due to appear before Cloverhill District Court later this month.
