Tragic news today: Body recovered from sea during search for small boy missing at Cliffs of Moher

The sixth day of the search for a missing youngster has seen the recovery of a body from the water off the coast of Co Clare, reports Breaking News.

The Garda-led search was being directed from Doolin, around 2km north of the Clare coast, where witnesses reported seeing something in the water at around 10am today. The boat’s captain sounded the alarm right away.

Watch personnel from the Irish Coast Guard’s maritime rescue coordination headquarters in Kerry notified the RNLI, gardaí, and Doolin section of the service. While the RNLI launched their all-weather lifeboat situated at Kilronan on Inis Mór, the Doolin Coast Guard launched its Delta rigid inflatable boat (rib), reports Breaking News.

Soon after reaching the specified site, Doolin Coast Guard members discovered a body.

The bodies were retrieved at Doolin Pier and placed on the Doolin Delta boat with the help of RNLI volunteers. After that, the body was brought to the Coast Guard station nearby. Together with the Coast Guard vessel, the RNLI lifeboat made the trip to Doolin.

The body has been transported by hearse to University Hospital in Limerick, where a postmortem examination and official identification will take place.

Personnel from eight counties participated in the multi-agency operation to find the 12-year-old who was reported missing after becoming lost from his mother while visiting the Cliffs of Moher last Tuesday, reports Breaking News.
