Tragic news this evening, as a snorkeler has reportedly died after getting into difficulties in the water.
The incident happened near Ardmore, off the Waterford coast, at around 6pm tonight.
Two male snorkelers were in the water, when they got into difficulties. One of them managed to swim ashore and raised the alarm.
The Coastguard helicopter was dispatched to the area, and the rescue crew soon spotted the missing snorkeler, a man in his 30s. He was airlifted to Waterford University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
