Tributes have poured in locally for a man aged in his 40s who drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming in the River Shannon yesterday afternoon.
Around 5pm, the man got into difficulty while swimming at Parteen Railway Bridge, Thomondgate, Limerick.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and brought the man to hospital where tragically he was pronounced dead a short time later.
