Tributes have been paid to an Irish man who tragically passed away in Croatia while he was on his honeymoon.
According to the Irish Mirror, Tommy “Spike” McCormack died suddenly while he was celebrating a delayed honeymoon with his wife Karen Guthrie who is understandably shocked by her husband’s death.
She told the Mirror, “He was my soul mate, my best friend, my husband.”
While Spike and Karen married in May 2018, they delayed their honeymoon and were hoping for a beautiful holiday in Croatia to celebrate their marriage. Instead, Karen has tragically been working with The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, a charity set up to help families in cases like hers where the body of a loved one must be brought home after an unexpected death.
Spike’s family has said that any donations over the sum they need will be donated back to the Trust which provides invaluable help to families who find themselves in these tragic situations.
