Tributes have been paid on social media to 14-yr-old Drogheda girl Jill Amante who tragically lost her life while out swimming with friends on Friday afternoon near Termonfeckin, Co. Louth.
Jill was enjoying the fine weather by swimming with two friends at Seapoint beach near Termonfeckin when she got into difficulty because of the riptide at around 1:30pm on Friday afternoon.
Her friends raised the alarm and a number of emergency services, including lifeboats and a search helicopter were deployed to the scene.
They discovered the girl in the sea and rushed her to Our Lady Of Lourdes hospital but tragically medical personnel were unable to revive the young girl.
Friends have posted on social media that she was a lovely and friendly girl and will be widely missed. RIP.
