Tom Childs, 65, was pronounced dead at his farm in Galbally, County Limerick, on Tuesday afternoon, reports The Mirror.

His body was brought to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem was scheduled to take place on Wednesday evening.

Tributes have been pouring in for the farmer who was killed in an accident earlier this week.

Councillor Eddie Ryan told the Irish Mirror: “The community is in shock. He was very well-known and comes from a well-known family. He has two adult children and a wife and my heart goes out to them,” reports The Mirror.

“It’s tragic the manner in which he lost his life. It’s a pity. Everybody is heartbroken and shocked. I would have known Tom and his family very well. Tom was a hardworking individual, he would just work away. The amount of farmer deaths has gone down in recent years but they haven’t gone away. Farming can be quite dangerous, it’s a risky game to be at, especially on your own,” he added, reports The Mirror.
