Tributes paid to man (40s) who sadly died in Donegal diving tragedy following search and rescue operation




After falling into danger in the ocean this afternoon at Teelin Pier in County Donegal, a man has passed away. He was reportedly diving with another man who was pulled from the sea and is currently being treated at a hospital, reports The Mirror.

After a search and rescue effort in the region including members of An Garda Síochána and the Coast Guard, the two men were found not too long ago.

While the second diver, who is in his 60s, received treatment at the site before being taken to University Hospital Galway (UHG), the 40-year-old diver was declared dead at the scene.

A spokesman for An Garda Síochána said the local coroner had been notified, and a post-mortem examination would take place in the coming days. Gardaí received a request for assistance from the Coast Guard following an incident in Teelin Bay, Co Donegal on Saturday afternoon, 22nd June 2024,” he told the Irish Mirror, reports The Mirror.
