A home fire in County Cavan claimed the life of an 80-year-old man, reports RTE.
According to the GardaÃ, they are looking into the incident that happened in Virginia yesterday night.
It is acknowledged, although, that foul play is not suspected at this point in the inquiry, reports RTE.
The man’s corpse was found after the Gardaà were notified of the home fire at about 10 p.m.
A moment later, he was declared dead at the scene.
In a statement, a garda spokesperson said: “Investigating gardaà have preserved the scene as they work towards establishing the cause of the fire. The body was removed to Cavan mortuary and a post mortem examination will be conducted in due course. Results of the post mortem and a technical examination of the scene will determine the course of the garda investigation,” reports RTE.
