
A man in his 60s has died after a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian in Monaghan.
Gardaà were called to the scene at Old Cross Square in Monaghan Town shortly after 10.15am on Saturday, reports RTE.
The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported, reports RTE.
Forensic Collision Investigators carried out an examination of the scene and the road has since reopened.
Gardaà are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Monaghan Garda station, reports RTE.
The incident comes after three people were killed in separate road crashes over a 24-hour period between Thursday morning and yesterday morning, with a woman also left in a critical condition following a fourth collision.
The death of the pedestrian in Monaghan brings the total number of people killed on Irish roads this year to 172, reports RTE.
