Tributes paid to Simply Painting host Frank Clarke who has sadly died aged 84

Television presenter and artist Frank Clarke dies.

Dubliner, 84, best known for his TV series Simply Painting, died yesterday after a long illness, his family announced.

His TV show aired on RTÉ for eight years in the early 1990s and was shown around the world, in countries including the United States, Australia and all of Europe. He also recorded a series in China.

His friends today described him as a man who loved to paint and teach.

Mr. Clarke began painting as a hobby after taking early retirement from a career that included clothing design and property development.

According to his biography on his website, he joined a painting group but left after being told he had no talent.

However, thankfully he didn’t let that affect him and he managed to get a great career together, one of which many people fondly remember him for their childhood days.
